This album takes the best qualities of Doom Metal and Post-Metal and slams them together to create some amazing music. highly recommended album.

Njiqahdda - Initiation

Good Black Metal / Ambient album. It is one of the rare black metal albums that makes good use of clean vocals

Carrier Flux - Objection

The music on this album is something between 90s Voivod, Death, and black metal. Some how combining these sounds make for a very good album.

Lowbau - A Darker Shade Of Blues

Southern Hard Rock mixed with enough sludge to set it apart from the standard modern rock album.

Black Pestilence - In Defiance

Great Punk influenced Black Metal. 

Nostrum - Demo MMXIII

Killer Blackened Death / Doom. Highly recommended

Acidic Assault - S/T EP

Two great thrash Songs. Not too much more to be said.

Black Century - The Beginning

Great Classic sounded Heavy Metal. Just needs a little time to clean up their sound it is kinda sloppy on this ep.

Best Free Albums 1/24 - 2/2

Here are the "best" free releases on bandcamp this week. 
A good week for Black Metal it seems.

1. Outre - Tranquility
Great Black Metal. Highly Recommended.
The core of the band; Damian Igielski (Serpentia) and Andrzej Nowak (Fleshworld) had created 4 compositions in the style of modern black metal with elements of thrash, death and even prog and post metal

2. Strange facts in the scalpel case - 'Monolith' (single)

Great promo single. It features two tracks that feature a very nice mix of Black, Death and Doom metal.

3. Cailleach - Aokigahara

Good Progressive Black Metal. Highly Recommended is you can stand the odd Shrieky vocals.

4. Ragnell - Black Requiem

Great Raw Black Metal. Highly Recommended.

5. Iskon - Rob Tmine

one of the few new melodic death metal release I can stand. It must be black metal influence. anyways it is a nice album.

Best Free Albums 1/19-1/26

Here are the best free releases on bandcamp this week.

1. Southern Soil - Machines EP

Great Stoner Metal with a southern kick. might be why they are called southern soil.

2. Manthraah - Lesson Learned

Great Modern Heavy Metal. It feels like a mix of modern Hard Rock and European Power Metal.

3. Eschatos - Hierophanies

Combining Death, Black, and Post-Metal is not uncommon. But how Eschatos does it on this album is the best way to do it. So far the best album I've heard from 2013.

4. Paul Ozz - Fear the Angels

A good Shred Album. Nothing more, nothing less.

5. MassiveWar - Discípulos de la putrefacción

First demo from this Death/Thrash band. It is by no means perfect but it is a great start. Keep an eye out for this band down the road.

6. M3 - EP

Really nice 5 song progressive metal EP. It has very good production.

7. Narrow Grave - Sampler 2013

Kinda sloppy but very catchy Thrash metal. Another band to keep an eye on down the road.

8. Bellua - Bellua

Great doom band. Nothing needs to be said, just check it out.

Best free albums of the past week

I'm starting a new feature where I list 5-10 of the best free albums releases the past week. I'll be posting this ether on Saturday or Sunday every week.

1. Naga - Naga
Naga is a Doom metal band from Italy. Their first release under this name is a two track demo (They were formally known as Kter). The demo features a little over 22 and a half minutes of crushing sludge like doom.
Recommended for any doom fan.

2. Infant Death - Demo
Infant Death is a Thrash / Death band from Norway. Their sound comes straight from the early 90s. It is raw, gritty and fast. It was also released on tape by prostata records.
Recommended  for any fans of old school Death/Thrash Metal

3. Hangvart - Absences Nocturnes
DSBM / Doom Band from France. The combination of Doom and DSBM is great it really enhances the overall fell of the music. It is a great listen all the way through even with the long songs.

4. Diabolicus - Fields of Existence
Diabolicus is a death metal band from New York. Fields of Existence is their first release. It is nothing groundbreaking but it is a good start. Keep an eye on this band.

5. Against Humanity - Lost Feelings
Against Humanity is a Atmospheric Black Metal band from Brazil. Their albums is a great Black metal album. The only thing it needed is a bit less treble.
Highly recommended.

Chunk of the Many - Juicy Chunks (2013)

Self-Released

Chunk of the Many claims to be bleeding edge of music and pushing the musical boundaries of metal. which sounds promising at first. With the first few plucks of the rubber binder guitar, farting bass and horribly played drums it has already fell well below its claims.
It is just a horrible pain to sit through even one song let alone 4. So do yourself a favor and stay away from this.
